Our guide to Brighton's Marina's restaurants

Tucked Away

Tucked Away on Trafalgar Street is a hidden gem that stands out as one of Brighton’s best cafés. It is located just a short walk from Brighton Station, and it’s an ideal spot for commuters, locals, and visitors alike. This cosy café is known for its vibrant atmosphere, friendly service, and an impressive menu that caters to a variety of tastes. From their freshly brewed coffee to their healthy smoothies which packed with flavour and nutrients, Tucked Away has something for everyone. Why not pair your drink with one of their delicious sandwiches, whether you’re in the mood for a hearty brunch or a lighter, healthy bite. With its convenient location and commitment to quality, Tucked Away on Trafalgar Street is a must-visit for anyone seeking a top-tier café experience in Brighton.

Puck

It’s a toss-up at this Seven Dials favourite whether they have better taste in coffee or music, but we can assure you that you will not be disappointed by either. PUCK is a record store and coffee shop that also serves bratwurst, what more could you want? Sit outside and watch the world go by around the bustling Seven Dials roundabout or tuck yourself away in a cosy corner inside and enjoy the tunes! Coffee comes courtesy of Pharmacie Coffee Roasters, an independent roastery in nearby Lewes.

Stoney Point

Nestled in between Seven Dials and Western Road in the beautiful surroundings of the Montpelier neighbourhood is Stoney Point. Head over for top-notch coffee sourced from London’s well-known Monmouth Coffee Company and a slice of relaxed Brighton life away from the busiest city streets.

Coffee at 33

It won’t come as a surprise that most of the best coffee spots can be found in the trendy heart of the city in either the North Laine district or the famous Lanes.

If you’re heading into Brighton on the train and want a coffee first-up then this is a great shout.

The coffee itself is of the highest quality here, with many happy customers declaring it the best coffee in the city and even the country!

Ikigai Coffee

Another great spot close to the station is Ikigai Coffee. As the name suggests Ikigai is a Japanese coffee shop so alongside the outstanding coffee you can also find authentic Matcha and some exquisite sweet treats such as Hong Kong-style pineapple buns. The care and attention provided to every aspect of Ikigai is something to behold, and this is true of the coffee as much as anything else, we promise you will not be disappointed.

You’ll have to navigate your way through the twists and turns of the famous Brighton Lanes to find Komodo Coffee, but when you do you’ll have struck gold (well, black gold anyway). Komodo serve up coffee sourced from Kofra Coffee Roasters in Norwich, whose beans you won’t find anywhere else in Brighton. Komodo is also a lovely spot to enjoy a coffee and sit and watch passersby wandering the Lanes, so it should definitely be on your list.

17GRAMS

True coffee enthusiasts will get the reference in the name of this coffee shop, and the rest of us will just enjoy the fact that it tastes so good! 17GRAMS can be found in a few locations around the city, with the closest to the city centre located in the Lanes and another shop in Hove. In the last couple of years, 17GRAMS have opened their very own roastery just off of the North Laine in Gloucester Street, where you can also pop in for a coffee.

The Botanist Coffee Co.

The Botanist is located between the North Laine and the station, right next door to The Pond pub (also great, btw). As the name suggests, you’ll know The Botanist when you see it because it’s full of beautiful plants (stocked and sold by Hi Cacti in Seven Dials), and the building is painted with lots of houseplants too! Don’t worry though, the plants aren’t a distraction, high-grade coffee is the star attraction here and the cups they’re serving are up there with any others to be found in the city. A second shop is opening soon in Hove, too.

LOAM

Another North Laine coffee shop that might just trump the rest for top spot, LOAM is very popular amongst coffee aficionados in the city. Occupying a cosy spot in the heart of the North Laine area, you will not be disappointed by a flat white from here. For us, LOAM just about edges into first place for coffee in Brighton, but in the end you’ll have to go and try them all for yourself!

Coffee in Brighton is a big deal, with more independent coffee shops than you can shake a bag of beans at. The above list is our taste-tested list of the very best you can find in the heart of the city, so whichever one (or three) you end up heading to you’ll be in for a highly caffeinated treat!
